    Itron the “Largest mobile advanced metering system” supplier for India


    Larsen & Tubro, India’s construction giant has picked Itron to supply mobile advanced metering system which would be the largest of its kind in India as of date. Itron is to supply 120,000 automated meters, 40,000 standard meters and software would be supplied to Delhi Jal Board (DJB), a water supplier for the Delhi Metropolitan territory said Itron to the press this week.
    Pawan Mathur, director of water and heat for Itron in India, said that project is a followed after a recent Itron pilot with DJB and that the meters would be used to collect, measure and to analyze water usage.
    Itron was also picked in another separate contract by the Indian infrastructure firm SPML to supply DJB with 90,000 advanced meters for Malviya Nagar, Vasant Vihar and Mehrauli at Delhi. The company said, the Itron factory at Dehradun would supply meters for both the projects.
    It is to be noted the former Itron CEO, Malcolm Unsworth in 2010 said in an interview that Indian represented a ”significant growth opportunity” for the company.
